Preparing For the First Day at Noah’s Bark
•
Preparing for the first day at Noah’s Bark can be quite a task! Bringing in your pup requires a specific process to ensure that all of the requirements are met!
Age
First, each pup must be above 4 months of age. Younger dogs are more prone to catching diseases. So, we’d like to ask you to provide all the necessary adolescent shots before considering Noah’s!
The recommended shots include:
- Distemper
- Hepatitis
- Leptospirosis
- Parvo
- Parainfluenza
Up-to-date Vaccinations
- Bordetella
- AKA: Canine Cough, respiratory disease
- Distemper
- A disease that attacks the immune system. Usual signs are fever, coughing, lethargy, discharge from the nose and mouth, reduced appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea.
- Rabies
- A deadly virus that spreads to people from the saliva of infected animals. Signs are weakness, paralysis, seizures, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, excessive salivation, abnormal behavior, aggression, and/or self-mutilation.
- Hepatitis
- Leptospirosis
- Parainfluenza
- Parvovirus
All of these diseases lead to very similar symptoms like a high fever, vomiting, and difficulty breathing. It’s sad to think that dogs are at risk of so many harmful diseases, but that’s the reality of life. Therefore, it should be our utmost desire to protect our pups at all costs. So, when you’re considering coming to Noah’s Bark, remember to receive all of these up-to-date vaccinations.
Spayed/Neutered
At Noah’s Bark, we ask that ever dog is spayed or neutered. Owners have the right to make this choice but when an unfixed dog enters a daycare, it increases the risk of harm to the workers and other dogs.
The only exception are puppies under 7 months of age.
What to Bring
When bringing your dog to Noah’s Bark, some of the essentials include:
- Quick-release collar
- Buckle and chain collars put dogs at risk. with a quick release collar, in case of an emergency, the collar can easily come off.
- Food
- If your dog is staying the night or for a long day, then bringing food is a very good idea. Noah’s will provide food in case you are not able to but new food can often mess with a dogs digestive system. At Noah’s we will have a scheduled feeding time unless a specific time is specified. After eating, each dog will rest for 30 minutes to one hour to prevent bloating.
- Favorite toys or blankets
- Bring your dogs favorite toy and we’ll keep it safe in their kennels!
- Medications
- If your dog has medication, it is vital for their health that the medication is brought with specific instructions.
All of these suggestions can help you as the owner prepare for your dog’s first day without bumps in the road. Have any questions? Feel free to contact us!
